BubbleVideo: Supporting Small Group Interactions in Online Conferences

Increasing use of online conferencing systems, particularly over the past year, has highlighted problems in these especially their poor support for small group interactions within larger meetings. These include clumsy formation (e.g., issues around joining and leaving existing groups), difficulty getting correct level audio isolation between groups, provision shared editing documents, as well fatiguing aspects video caused by presentation format necessity remaining on camera view. This paper describes motivation, design implementation a prototype system, called BubbleVideo. Building both virtual world pure paradigms, it implements an extensive 2D with which users appear through real-time video, presented “bubbles” that can be moved around. Users are given possibility deciding whether to join viewing conversation “leakage”, members share outsiders.
